VIRGINIA COALITION FOR FINE ARTS EDUCATION

2012 VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY

LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION

The Virginia Coalition for Fine Arts Education (VCFAE), formerly the Virginia Leadership Coalition for Fine Arts in Education, will continue to monitor the legislation offered during the 2012 Virginia General Assembly Session.

The Virginia General Assembly opened the 2012 session on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 for the long, 60-day session. With the changes resulting from the election we may expect some refocusing of priorities. However, we have had indications that some legislation, such as the physical education requirement, will be brought back, perhaps in a somewhat different form.

The Coalition requests that members and interested parties:

  • Stay alert to legislative information by checking your email and the Coalition website for up to date information and LEGISLATIVE ALERTS. This information may come to you asking for an IMMEDIATE response. An immediate response is necessary due to how quickly legislation can pass from a sub-committee, to the full committee, to the floor. Your assistance in responding is critical AND appreciated.
  • Visit the VCFAE website: http://www.vaea.org/coalition.html
  • Please strongly consider using your HOME email address for advocacy and legislative information and responses. You should AVOID using your business or school email for these purposes. Many school divisions and government agencies prohibit the use of business email for these purposes.
  • Find out your delegate or representative and senator in the Virginia and federal house and senate. Visit the VCFAE website to find out how to locate your delegate or representative and senators.

The Coalition welcomes and encourages your participation in helping to maintain the valuable school fine arts programs for the students of the Commonwealth.

PLEASE STAY ALERT!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!!!!!!!
