General Overview: The Mission of the Virginia Music Educators Association is to provide leadership and professional development to ensure quality music education. Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide mutual helpfulness to its membership and to promote the advancement of music education through schools and other educational institutions. VMEA is an affiliated state unit of NAfME -- The National Association for Music Education. Membership in the Virginia Music Educators Association is open to any individual engaged in or associated with the teaching of music, in schools or privately. Active membership dues for NAfME and VMEA are $111.00 per year. This includes subscriptions to VMEA Notes, Music Educators Journal and Teaching Music. The subscription rate for Notes for non-members is $15.00 per year and can be ordered by contacting the Notes Business Manager.
