Seeking New Advocacy & Government Relations Committee Chair
VMEA is seeking a new Chair for the Advocacy & Relations Committee Chair
The Advocacy & Government Relations Chair coordinates work, policy, and advocacy efforts related to music education. Primary responsibilities include the following: 1. stay current and relevant regarding state policy and needed advocacy efforts, 2. assist with the organization’s advocacy efforts such as Hill Days, Associate Membership trainings, and advocacy sessions at conference, 3. prepare advocacy materials and training to support music education for use in advocating with parents, school administrators, school board members, legislators and others. They serve as a member of the NAfME Advocacy Leadership Force (ALF) and represent VMEA and VA Coalition meetings. The chair also works closely with the President’s Committee and VMEA Executive Board on all matters related to advocacy for music education.
